GOOD GARAGE SCHEME
« on: 21 July 2006, 21:50:05 »

Has anyone come across this site

http://www.goodgaragescheme.co.uk/

I put in my postcode and it came back with a garage within 1 mile. Just might be worth a try IF it does what it says on the tin.

Crikey !  8 within 7mls, nearest one is 2mls away. as you say IF it does what it says on the tin. Personally I quite enjoy a bit of spannering, gives one a sense of satisfaction, when you know you have done a better job than, possibly a garage might  ;)

Zero return for north Glasgow - although I've yet to have a problem with Arnold Clark (Garscube Road)... other than they're always far too busy!  :)

Well putting in my post code brings up 6 known bad ones!

It doesn't include the only garage around the Nottingham area that I trust......Barn Garage, Keyworth.......very good

trouble is with that, someone might think they have done a good job when the have'nt, how does a regular joe no about the tensionrs and other bits (unless he's a member here)

Good idea though, maybe we should make one for here?

We have a good spread of members thoughout the UK who can reccommend garages.

Deep down, I suspect it is like uswitch and similar sites - some kind of finacial payment from garages concerned, as those sort of website cost a lot to run...

I hope I never get as cynical as you lot,of course there are a lot of cowboys out there, but surely not everyone can be bad? If we treat every indy garage with suspicion, then we only have two alternatives----DIY or Vx :-/

Believe me, I treat Vx garages with even more suspicion ;)

I have an independent that I use and trust - but I don't trust these so call independent websites. Ask yourself how such website finance themselves....

I know you're right, of course, but it's a bit depressing if your a cack-handed old git like me. You just have to trust someone :(
