I have just bought...
« on: 16 November 2007, 12:09:51 »

cambelt kit = £89.08
water pump = £21.42
antifreeze = £6.95
aux belt = 17.50
Aux belt tensioner pulley = 22.50

£157.45 EX Vat
£185.01 INC Vat

All Trade club prices.

I have also asked them to put a head gasket set to one side, just in case I need one.

Fair to say that, since getting my TC, and visiting my dealer quite regularly, they are becoming very obliging indeed...

I plan to have this thing fixed over the weekend and monday/tues.

I'm fully prepared and have everything I need to fix it, even if it turns out it needs an engine change (for a 3.0) if the worst comes to the worst.

Then, the following weekend, Markie, Kevin Wood and myself are going to attack the LPG :y

You do realise that the GM headgasket kits are about 100 quid per side....

Which is why I now use Elring headgaskets, genuine cam cover gaskets, FAI stem seals, genuine cam seals and genuine manifold gaskets plus FAI head bolts....works out a LOT cheaper....

If you need them, ask this seller for a price on just the headgaskets and stem seals (quite cheap and they are happy to do this)

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/THE-GASKET-SHOP

Bolts from here (BGA which are fine):

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HEAD-BOLTS-VAUXHALL-OPEL-CALIBRA-V6-OMEGA-V6-VECTRA-V6_W0QQitemZ4561157989QQihZ011QQcategoryZ10404QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

Exhaust manifold to head gaskets, front pipe to manifold gaskets, cam cover gaskets, cam seals, rear coolant pipe to block seal and 4 dowty washers for coolant bridge all from Vx...

Just add oil, filter and antifreeze and possibly re-seal the oil cooler and stat whilst in there plus re-route the crank sensor wiring.

No point, with the heads off its easy to remove without disturbing the trouble some nuts (no comment thanks Jimbob) and with regular coolant changes, its never going to get any worse than it is now. Its not like they are an item that wears.

There must be a difference - can you check those p/n's with a dealer?

There is a load of sh*te talked about MAFs James, all designed to get you to part with your hard-earned. You'd be surprised how many are interchangeable, if they physically fit.
