Anyone got a spare viscous fan unit for a diesel omega ? also looking for a headlight washer jet for 95 omega elite

If you do find one it will probably be useless because they must be stored vertically otherwise the fluid contents drain where they shouldn't & it won't work.
How many parts depts, breakers, postmen dou suppose keep them vertical?
Mine's permanently locked on, sounds like a turbo-prop under the bonnet but at least it keeps cool whereas when it feathered as it should do I had some high temperatures under load & up long inclines at spped.
The reason that TB has dispensed with his is that he is has a perfect cooling system compared to the rest of us with decades of Thames Water's finest chalk deposited around the engine & radiator!

You'll be very very lucky to find one that's working correctly - even brand-new from the 'stealers'
This is due to incorrect storage. Someone on here (?) has had several under warranty from Vx - all totally useless to date.

thanks for all your help.  going to fit a cooling fan switch in the radiator hose and use the aircon fans as the aircon has never worked.  any one used one of these units that fit in the radiator hose .  do i fit it to top or bottom hose ?? and does anyone know the internal diameter of the hoses ??

May I ask why you are carrying this work out?  Underlying cooling issues? I run a TD on all standard cooling kit, with a knackered stat (must fix that soon) and no viscous - it needs no further cooling.

The electric fans fire up anyway at just above midpoint on the gauge, so don't bother with other chavvy shite.

If you are overheating, there are other issues.

The usual underlying causes for this engine to overheat are blocked rads, or historic poor servicing (ie not sticking to the 4.5k MAX oil change interval)

The viscous from a mid to late ninties seven series bmw diesel' is the same' item to allow you to broaden your search

Several years ago I had a Carlton Estate (desmond) which had a viscous fan; it never really worked properly and often gave me anxious moments on long drives as the temperature crept up, so I removed it and fitted a Kenlowe fan in front of the radiator (no air-con) and it worked fantastically well.
The temperature sensor was a bourdon tube fitted in the top hose connection at the radiator, via a special rubber saddle that had a sealing groove in it, so that the assembly didn't leak nor interfere with the hose connection - brilliant!
Associated with the sensor was a calibrated dial to set the operating temperature and a relay to switch the big fan.
