After getting a feel for Tractor economy, just to see if mine has something fundamentally wrong, or if they are all just crap. Just trying to work out if its worth spending any more time and effort on it.
Only interested in 2.5TD engines here.
Computer MPG: 38
Actual MPG: 32
Chipped: Yes
Gearbox: Auto
Driving Style: Spirited
Mine I would say is much the same as your's, mine is chipped also.
Pre chip I regularly got around 29mpg just local short stop start driving. Longer journeys would return around 42mpg pre chip.
Yes the MID display is wayward with the figures after the chip is installed, especially the range "miles left in tank" readings which seem to be all over the place..........Having said all this would I take the chip out................No!....... rather have the performance at the expense of economy.
In my opinion the chip transforms the performance of the TD and it was supposed to give me better MPG as well (so the guy who supplied it says) but hey I'm not complaining for the money it cost me. Really comes into it's own towing the caravan (no jokes please) more power even if the MPG suffers. It used to be really scary towing before the chip was fitted, especially pulling away from a standing start......gutless.

Obviously I can't speak about towing, but I seem to get a good 10% plus improvement on economy with the chip, even though I drive it in a more spirited manner. So purely from that view, the chip is staying, as its more economical and more power.
My trouble is, when the old head was on, I used to consistently get (according to MID, and pre chipped) 37mpg. Hence why I've been chasing potential problems with fuelling of the car for the last year or so.
I am beginning to wonder if this was purely down to the fact with the old, damaged head, I used to cruise everywhere gently - give it any large anywhere for more than 10s and it used to blow its load all over the carriageway.
