I changed the diesel filter on my DTi today, but now it won't start
I drawn the diesel back from the tank using a syringe & flexi pipe, filled the filter chamber up, but i get the feeling that its drained back from the injectors, any ideas as what i should do. No amount of cranking will see her to fire, so she in the garage for the night & i've said *^%$ it Could i push some through using the syringe & what about air locks, will these sort them selves??

Any help please.

should be a self bleeding system on that pete ! just keep cranking it over with jump leads on another car it will go !

I have a charger/buster starter. I'm hoping sitting in the garage all night & she'll realize the error of her ways & all will be well tomorrow

There's no bleeding system in 2.2 DTI. You may want to mount a manual pump on the inlet pipe to make some pressure in the system when you change the filter. I had this problem too and it was a nightmare to start the car. Make sure that the battery is full when you try. Beware of cranking the car with no diesel in the injection pump. That's not doing any good to the pump as it's lubricated from the diesel fuel.

Ensure the filter is full of fuel, and that it is correctly tightened onto it's seating.
Slacken injector pipes at the injectors.
Crank the engine over and you should see fuel squirting from each slackened pipe. STAY WELL CLEAR WHILST CRANKING - we're dealing with high-pressure stuff here!
Now securely tighten each injector pipe and try cranking again - it should fire-up straight away.
This procedure should vent all the air from the highest point in the system.

All's well now with her, it was a vaccum pipe that had come adrift which made the EML come on. I only spotted it purely by chance.
Bring back the old days when all we had was an engine & the basics I wonder how my DTi would run with just the basics

Not a problem bud ....... it's what the OOF is all about!

The 2.2 DTi's suffer from clogging of the inlet setup which affect the pressure sensor (as you know!).

The best thing for them is a chemical clean of the inlet and swirl flap manifold
