a guy at work just bought a 2.5 v6 pfl.
Sounds tidy but it has a speed restrictor! Anyone heard of this?
Seller said its factory fit, if so can it be removed via tech 2? Ta

But 100mph? Sorry, no....

Anyway, I can say with certainty that none of my Omegas had such a device

I can say from experience my omega's dont seem to have limiters , must have been an aftermarket job ?

that was my reply when he asked me. Him being from Europe, he has experienced various marques with limiters. Some as low as 70, i did ask if it was a left hooker but if says its def a uk car.

Why would somebody do such a thing?

On the other hand its not a speed thats commonly used. But apparantly it does come in with a bit of a bang. Get it off i say.

I've heard of the catera being limited to 125mph but not the Omega, anywhere in europe

Maybe the throttle cable needs to be adjusted under the bonnet?

i did ask if it was a miss fire issue but he says it revs out fully in all gears and driver fine no problem. It cuts in dead on 100 he said. Not 101 not 102 not 99. Always 100!
I wonder if some fleet manager had them fitted to keep his reps from getting band? 30% over and all that?

96 is the point where you are likely to get a summons rather than a FPN, thats if you're on 70 limit roads of course!

Not aware of any limiter functions. Certainly nothing in the std ecu configs.  Could feasibly be a config in abs, but again, never seen it....

Might be worth checking for additional wiring.

The speedo does not match the computer - the speedo is deliberately wrong due to strange legal reasons

BT use them it is done Via Tech II on the newer stuff Combo,Corsa Signum, Astra,Vivaro

BT do it at 70mph to stop naughty apprentices trying to get combo vans to 120MPH on the m6 on their way to Yarnfield

But my BT mechanic collegue told me its done via Tech2

The vans get to 70 and then the fuel supply is cut as the power dies out

Im an apprentice (for a different company), and we have combo vans....... trust me they certainly dont go 120 mph let alone 80 lol

Our new vans are all limited to 70 mph, though. Upon reaching 70 (or 73/74 or the dials) they jus stop revving.

My Omega does/did have a limiter that kicks in at 85 (98 plate) but, I seem to have overridden that with the performance chip.  I found that if I dipped the throttle just before it kicked in, it would over go another 5mph before kicking in again...
