Yes Anna I'm afraid it does! :'( :'(

It happened to me a few months back.  You will have to manually unlock the car using your key, which is often VERY hard to turn (clockwise). ;)

Just as you think you will break your key (mine actually did break!! :o :o) the lock should turn.  The button may stay down, so please try the door handle! ;)

Is the red alarm LED flashing near your radio? If not could be a flat battery.

will it cost a lot to have the electrics fixed on the car, or could the key just be faulty??

It's more than likely the battery in the car is flat, fairly easy and not too expensive to fix. When was the car last used?

With mine my battery drained because the boot had accidentally been open for three days! ::) ::) ::) ::)

That could be the cause of your problem Anna. :(

Ah, just realised, my car won't have been dead-locked when I was able to use the key in the door    ::)

I too agree it sounds like a dead battery, there's another link on here today asking how to get in the car with a dead battery and the doors dead-locked...

It may well be very hard to turn especially if you hav'nt used the key manually for some time so dont be put off trying to turn it . :y

The technique I used to free the locks on my Omega estate was to squirt loads of WD40 into the locks, wait five minutes and try to turn the key fairly forcefully, but not enough to break the key. Using this approach, after 2/3 applications, I was successful in freeing both the driver's door and the rear door locks.

Persevere, take your time and use lots of WD40 squirted inside the lock (push the plastic tube which comes with the WD40 can right inside the lock).

As above I think my locks hadn't been opened by the key for a long time.Lots of WD40 and wiggling of keys eventually did the trick.I give the lock an occasional squirt now to keep it freed up.

clamp on a spare battery to the the starter motor's big read lead and on to the chassis underneath the car. This should provide enough juice so you can unlock the car :y
