Slight wander over raised road markings
« on: 12 March 2009, 17:15:30 »

I've noticed that my car slightly wanders when I go over raised road markings, or when there are tramlines. When going over the raised roadmarking you can see the steering move to the left or right slighty before going back to centre. The droplinks were changed along with the wishbone bushes. I think it could be this steering arm idler. My tyres are quite wide but I don't think they are the cause.

I'm not sure whether that explains why my steering wheel is slightly off centre.

What are the toe & camber settings now the wishbones have been fitted, if you suspect the idler jack it up & see if there is any movement

any Omega will need setting up after new wishbones in my experience. Tracking on its own rarely helps, it will need all settings checked at least, camber as well, this should be done on a laser alignment machine  with an operator who know the correct settings for a used car, the factory settings are too wide and of little use with well run in suspension. Visit wheels in motion web site and ask Tonys advise, i am sure he will advise correct settings to give you for a Doha company to apply.

Standard operating procedure, check wishbone bushes and steering idler for play, and springs for breakages then set it up.

Drop links wont affect the handling on their own.

Also another member on here says his car starts to tramline when his tires near the end of their life.
