Water pump help.
« on: 14 March 2009, 17:00:56 »

Getting set to do my water pump, cambelt and tensioners tomorrow on my 2.0 lt .
Just been checking the water pump and I cant see how it's held into the block .
I've looked at the 2.0 cambelt DVD but cant see anything on that and the Haynes manual doesn't seem to have a photo of the 2.0 pump fitted.
Here are a couple of photos of the Valeo pump , anyone confirm it's the correct one or otherwise before I start the job and tell me how it will be bolted on ?

EDIT Playing the dvd again and watching the replacement of the pump it seems it is held on by  bolts with washers that overlap the edge of the casing. :-[

can't say if its the right part or not but looks same as the one one my old 2 litre cav,if it is correct it'll be held in place by 3 bolts that bolt into the block and pinch it in its hole, also cambelt is tensioned by rotating it.

It does look like the right one only difference I can see from the one here in front of me (off my 2.0l) is the hole is drilled at the opposite side 180degrees approx as there are 2 raised parts where the hole can be drilled i think.
Yes its held in place by the bolts /washers, I would suggest you mark the old one before you take it off, just a scratch or perm marker to make it easier to put back in same place as you can mark the new one the same.
I take t your doing the cambelt  etc yes?

Yep...
Genuine GM belt ,pulleys and tensioner, fresh GM oil and filter too.
I don't use it much these days ,only done 16 K miles in 4 years since the last belt kit and pump and only done 2K miles over last 12 months .
Can't bring myself to get rid of the old girl. Cars are so expensive over here and the Omega is unmarked and running as good as new and sadly worth very little now .
I've had another car for over 30 years now so you never know....... ;)
