Erratic Temp Gauge ???
« on: 16 March 2009, 09:29:49 »

Hi everyone !
Got a problem with my temp gauge on my OMEGA 2.2 CD Auto.

It has worked fine since i've had the car, but over the last week it rises to about 80-85, then drops down to the starting position.....then rises back up again. It never stays stable anymore !

Water & oil levels are fine.....Any ideas ????    :-?   Thanks !

I've experienced this.

Traced to a faulty earth lead from engine to battery negative terminal.
Easy to eliminate - just securely clip a jump lead from a convenient point on the engine to the negative battery terminal when the fault occurs.
See what happens to the gauge then.

I had this problem with my mondeo when i had it,when the temp changes does it affect the heating inside the car, does it show very cool when driving and then maybe hot when stopped,if so sounds like sensor has failed. :y
