Causing wheel wobble when braking at speeds above 45 mph, below that it's ok.
Been down the M42 today and had cause to brake when travelling at above 60 mph, this caused the steering wheel to wobble quite a bit.
Doesn't do it below 45 mph.
I've had the front pads changed and was told the discs were ok, also had new tyres all balanced up recently, no wobble at all untill I brake above say 45 mph.
So could it be worn steering idler or even wishbones, car's done around 112,000 and as far as I know not had the idler or wishbones changed.

My car is doing the same.I have new discs and pads arriving tomorrow so I will try to remember to post results,it might give you some clues.

Should add I changed the steering idler on mine recently,so that might point at it not being your problem,if it is discs I may be able to confirm my findings tomorrow.
Then its the camcover gaskets,then exhaust inc.cats,then probably start back at the top of the "omega common faults list"

there sound warped to me
one more thing
when you change the discs don't forget to stick brand new pads in as well as the new pads that are in are breaked now

Many thanks for the offer, I shall bear that in mind.

So it sounds like discs that are shot, strange that when I had new pads in all was well, that was last year. This problem has only just developed over the last month or so.

depending on the amount of miles you do the new pads will wear to your old discs and thats when the problems will start
with out seeing the car its hard to point to the problem
i can only give you info from other cars ive worked on with very similar problems

I think new discs are in order, seeing as it's done around 112,000  without any signs of new ones being fitted before I owned it.
Same goes for wishbones and idler, they don't last forever so maybe it's time for a little TLC on those items.

I see you've sorted it now but have you checked rear pads are not seized in their calipers?

If they are it'll make the fronts hyper sensitive. Worth an hour or so to pull 'em out and free everything off. I guarantee you'll notice the difference!

Thanks for the post, so defo 100% it needs genuine VX discs & pads replacing.
So if I do it myself apart from the above do I need new sensor(s) and any other special tools.  It had new pads and sensor(s) last year, is it best to renew them again.
