Aux Belt tensioner
« on: 21 March 2009, 15:30:55 »

Guys

Had a problem with the bolts holding the central pully on the aux belt, took off the tensioner pulley (top left) to get it sorted, now everything is (almost) back in place, but can't manage to get the tensioner pulley back into place whilst the belt is on it at the same time.

Bit of noob at this (am learning by doing),  but have completely run out of ideas with this one, so what am I missing?

Thanks

What engine....worth updating your rpofile to add this info to!

If a V6....thread teh eblt around all pulelys but the water pump one (central smooth pulley).

Apply a 15mm spanner to teh centre nut of the tensioner andturn clockwise to load the tenioenr up.

Now slip the belt over the water pump puley and let go of the spanner.

If its an old belt it can often simply be fitted over the tensioner pulley using the same method as the belt will be longer having stretched.
