Having the same problem with mine. Had the shift solenoid (not sure which one) replaced a number of months ago and it fixed the problem. It's come back though. :(

Blowing bulbs, could be the alternator, and I know this might sound daft but an over charging alternator somehow effects the gearbox, well it did on my 2.0L auto last year. I am sure someone who knows better will be along soon. :)

Voltage is the first thing to check. Overcharging alternator can affect so many things in our cars.

Deecee - please explain more about your problem - speed, revs, gear etc. No one will be able to help you without detailed information, unless you want to hear to change your box.
It could be a gear shift solenoid but then it will only happen at some speed and gear (very popular 2-3 gear solenoid fails around 30mph).

1. First, check system voltage and any short circuits.
3. So the car drives find up to 30 mph and then revs go up and it seems like it's on N. Eventually it will engage the gear with a clunk  - if that's what you have, I suspect 2-3 gear solenoid.
