omega 2.6 cooling fan doesnt go off
« on: 20 March 2009, 13:23:01 »

hi, ive been having this problem for a while if i may call it a problem(doesn't really effect me but yet), my cooling fan kicks in the moment i start the engine, and the car doesn't heat beyond 80 degrees, when iam in the city and it drops way lower on the motorway. This happens for a whole day at a stretch like it happened the day before. Yesterday car was fine, was heating up to to the normal 90ish and the fan kicks in. drove it up to Birmingham and back no issues. But this morning once again the fan stays on continuously, even though the car was cold.
i personally feel it may be the fan switch playing up.. but iam not too sure.Any help would be appreciated
thanks!

First question.....which of the 3 fans are you refering to.

And they wont affect the engine oeprating temp, that is controlled by the thermostat

Yes, well, there are 3 cooling fans.

2 at the front of the car whose main purpose is to cool the aircon condenser but, are also used for engine rad cooling.

1 inside the engine bay, used for engine rad cooling only.

Hence the question as the 2 at the front should run when ever the aircon is turned on independent of engine temp :y

the aircon is off so is the whole temp unit, and whenver it is on its always on eco. still the fan runs!, the moment i put my key and start the ignition the fan kicks in, if it doesnt kick in then it kicks in exactly 5 mins later, iam still guesing it mite be a faulty switch or a stuck thermostat though iam not sure!
