Question about Motronic 1.5.4
« on: 23 March 2009, 09:45:18 »

 Hi,
I need to know what kind of signals are between ECU and injectors?
Same time (full-group), by pairs (half-group) or independent (sequential)?
The engine is X20SE, 8 valves, 115 hp.
Thanks a lot!

PWM....Pulse Width Modulation (standard fuel control delivery technique).

Fully sequential PWM

Actually it is not possible to be sequential, because there is no camshaft sensor, so there is no any information about first piston top point.
I checked the signals with oscilloskope (2 channels) and the result is – full-group. All four injectors inject gasoline at the same time!

Because I was not sure… So I asked…
But is it possible to work as half-group (inject by pairs) at low and middle engine load, and as a full-group at cold start and full load?

The injection times can overlap in a batch setup so there is no advantage to switching to a full group firing. Batched firing of the injectors does smooth the fuel delivery slightly so can give the pressure regulator a slightly easier time as only one pair of injectors opens / closes at a time.
