SECOND QUESTION - WATER PUMP
« on: 29 March 2009, 20:26:41 »

Going to do Timing Belt soon. Don't know when it was last done.

However, have found receipt from previous owner dated May 2005. Mileage 85K.   Had new water pump fitted.

4 years later and only 30K more. Is it advisable to do water pump after 30k when I do Timing belt?

Thanks again.

Its 20 quid (trade club), about an extra 10 mins work and means you also fully flush the cooling system (so an extra tenner).

My view is yes  :y

I wouldn't source jack all from euro car parts....rather untrustworthy bunch of lying crooks!

Genuine on trade club is a good price.

I think ours was £13 odd from Sutton Auto Factors if I remember right.

Aftermarket one by Contitech, never going to be as good as a genuine one though.

If you’re doing it yourself and pump does not make suspicious noises, you can leave it and change it later. It’s your time, you have to calculate. If it’s being done by a mechanic, change it because you don’t know what was fitted. Many times cheap crap can last 50% of the proper genuine part.

I agree! Bunch of liars! EuroCarParts told me that they supply BOSAL exhaust and BERU HT leads, but the price was just too good. I have ordered both items and refuse to pay for them when found that it’s a f.. cheapest parts they can get. And then I was told that they only use their catalogue numbers, not their parts!!
I always, always ask Vauxhall first and never, never will trust any company that supply “same as genuine parts quality”. 80-90% are fakes.

Change the belt kit and water pump mate!

Use genuine Vx parts throughout - and put in Vx genuine antifreeze too at a 50% (by volume) ratio.
Very competitively priced too, and not worth saving a few bob - literally.

It's called piece of mind - job done!
