2.2 Omega Saloon - fuel tank drain?
« on: 02 April 2009, 11:37:16 »

Hi All,

Following an unfortunate accident last night, my car is of to the repair shop today, and i think there is a good chance it may get written off when the assessor looks at it because of the level of damage and value of the car.

Anyway, to the point - It currently has a full tank of fuel that I am loath to leave in case it does get written off.

Can anybody advise if there is a drain plug/point on the tank (I dont have the car to look)? If there is I will make a trip to where the car is stored before it goes to the shop and reclaim the fuel before it goes, just in case!

Thanks,

Jimbo

best option is to pump it out, there is an access pannel in the boot

There's no drain-plug I'm afraid.
As said, pump the fuel out - CAREFULLY!

Easiest method is to cut the pipe, or disconnect at the fuel filter, but you will have to reconnect it, even if the car is going to be written off.  ::)

p.s. remember to unload your personal gear, maps, CDs, warning triangle, 1st aid kit, tools, spare fuses, cuddly toy, fondue set, etc. PLUS hang onto your tax disc, you can claim it back.  ::)

They may have, but you can get a small tube in there to syphon ... been there, done that  ::). It might take a while though.   :y  :y  :y
