Clean Your EGR Valve
« on: 03 April 2009, 11:33:27 »

A little occasional misfire and an error code pertaining to the EGR Valve Sensor prompted me to do a little spring cleaning.

First off, remove the windscreen wipers and the scuttle to make a little more room. Make sure the engine is cold, EGR valves get damn hot.
You will need a torx set to remove the EGR valve.
Here it is....
Here is the gasket, which i re-used and the blanking plate carefully crafted from a can of coke

Upended so you can see how dirty it is.

After a good dunking in a jar of caustic soda for half an hour...

After a careful reassembly and a quick clean of the breathers whilst i was under the bonnet it runs lovely, no misfiring at all...
