As long as you stopped ASAP after it split, and you didn't continue to drive with a sky high engine temp. Is the hose beyond a temporary bandage, to just get you home?

mine blew last summer - a very helpfull eastern european builder wrapped some duct tape round as a temp fix and filled it back up and i managed to limp home (approx 4 miles) with no damage

just a lot of steam ;)

ok i meant after patch/temp fix if engine is very hot pouring cold water straight in will cause a serious thermal shock that can cause damage but if the engine is running the pump will mix cold and hot better but by now your engine must be cold so crack on lad
