Colour sat-nav screen

I,ve got the standard monochrome screen on my 2001 elite, just wondered how hard/expensive it was to change to colour screen head unit is Siemens NCDC 2013 with pop in slot for sat nav cd disc any advice muchly appreciated

It can be done, it's just a one for one swap and a tech II to reset the system but it's getting a colour screen thats the hard part :y

You need to depair the current screen and stereo. This needs the pairing code originally used to pair them - if factory fit, this will be on your carpass. If not factory fit, its needs cracking.

But as Jim says, getting a colour screen is the hard part - it again needs to be depaired (also called Delivery Mode). A depaired CID is worth a fortune - members have been known to pay over £600 for one :o (which makes me rich, as I have 3 of the tinkers :o)

Once you have a depaired radio and depaired CID, they need to be paired together via a tech2

Depends what you want - I gave up with my TomTom devices, as, frankly, they are crap in built up areas. Saying that, I think TomTom are the best of the cheap portable units, though the really cheap ones seem a little unreliable.

I have TomTom on the phone, as seperate portable units is yet more junk to carry around. And the scrots know to look for the telltale round marks on the windscreen that show there is a good chance there is enough electronic goods in the glovebox to get a high tonight.

And with our exchange rate to the Euro so bad at the moment buying one from Germany (where most of them seem to be) makes it an expensive option.
