Facelift climate control not providing cold air
« on: 05 April 2009, 13:21:43 »

Hello All,
My 2002 CDX's climate control isn't working. It doesn't provide cold air, just air the same temp as outside. The fans are working, air is coming through the vents at the correct speeds.
Just wondering if anyone can tell me what to check, condenser, pipes in certain places? I'm a little hesitant to take it somewhere, pay £50 for them to tell me it doesn't work which I allready know.
Any ideas appreciated.

It may require re-gassing, but whatever you will have to call in a auto air conditioning engineer (there are some brilliant mobile ones out there) to check the system out.

At the worst it is the compressor, it could be a leak,  but more than likely it just needs re-gassing. ;)

The £50 - £60 will not be just to tell what is wrong, but to fix the problem for you, unless it is the compressor! 8-) 8-)

ah summers coming, the ac complaints are coming in.
As lizzie says probably out of gas, or could be electrickl connectors to pump. See if the bottom right pulley on aux belt is turning the face plate(pump clutch engaged). If the clutch dont engage then its cut out to protect itself as the oil runs with the gas. See ac specialist, if it has a leak it may be holed condenser(radiator looking thing behind the cooling radiator) or it just needs a top up. Hth

You should be able to tell if the aircon compressor kicks in as the engine note will change as you switch the aircon on, that should give you an idea if the compressor is starting or not and hopefully narrow the problem down a bit
