i think the 3 of you should go down if its not too much of an inconvenience, be checking Vin plates all over it and everything!

seems odd for the winner not to part with his cash for a car worth over £3000 more if it's genuine!

Next OOF meet in Plymouth anyone??  ;D

if its a genuine sale, an absolute bargain!

its the legitimacy of the sale that's questionable at the moment, since his ad stated he would take £5,500 for it

I would only touch that, at any price, if I was at the registered keeper's address, siiting in his living room having a cup of tea following a satisfactory test drive and with an HPI report in my hand.

I'm sorry, he may be perfectly genuine, but there's enough in that ad to make folk smell a rat that he's got to expect nothing less than the above, if genuine.

I've already done an HPI check, all looks legit, just need the V5 number to complete the check though. No outstanding finance or that against the car.

as said by myself, a cloned stolen car will show up clear on HPI, being that the details would correspond to a legitimate car somewhere else!

I think a phone call to the relevant authorities may be in order - sounds like it could be cloned

Recieved a reply to my email, to the winning bidder:

"This listing is a con, he doesnt own the car! I received an email from someone who knows the real owner and I saw the advert on www.autotrader.co.uk.

eBay were told about this on Weds before I won the car on Thurs. I have contacted them since and they still havent done anything. You are the fith person to be offered a second chance offer. I even called th police but they cant act until someone actually loses their money. Sorry to disappoint, 'if it ooks too good to be true.....'. Chris"

i love that, the police cant act unless someone actually loses money

but you hear all the time of people getting done for "attmepted" theft, "attempted" deception, "going equipped" to burgle for having gloves and tools in their vans!

if the real owner got in contact with the police stating that a complete stranger is attempting to sell "his" car, then surely the police should at least be able to pay the scammer a visit and at least make him aware that they know what's going on??

preventative crimefighting??
