Heres a response I got, late yesterday to my e-mail from the bloke ::)

Hello Mike, right now I am into a business trip in Greece, I own a small business there with my brother. The reason that the winner doesn't want the car is that he wants to do this deal on trust. He wants me to ship the car and then to receive the payment and that's impossible for me. I told him that we are going to do this via eBay - more exactly eBay Purchase Protection Plan since I am not in UK and he doesn't want to it this way. He wants a deal outside eBay and that's a violation of their policy.. eBay Purchase protection Plan is working like this : the buyer makes the payment to eBay Motors Representative and they will keep him the money until he receives the product, and if he is satisfied with it, he must notify eBay to release the payment to the seller.
Thanks and if you want to do this deal, please let me know!

Tell him that you are happy to do the deal in Ebay but you want to come and have a look at the car first. He can't complain at that can he?

I've been watching the progress of this one with interest.
I know no-one on this forum would end up falling for such an obvious scam, but I really do suspect  that some of you wanted to believe that it might have been a genuine altruistic gesture by a philanthropic rich boy.
I'm not trying to be rude or clever, but this crook will make money time and again with deals like this because of our human weakness to want to get 'something for nothing'.
I've seen many questionable deals like this on ebay and have always closed my eyes immediately without attempting to investigate. The only safe course in my opinion!

agreed, tho it seems our members have dug as deep as possible and not risked any money

not even attempting to investigate is obviously definately the safest way, but had it been a genuine bargain (unlikely but not unheard of) then people who do investigate can get lucky! :y

I agree! But I suffer from the additional weakness of not always being able to stick to my own principles, so opt to play safe.   ;D ;D
