Other Vauxhall Alloys, will they fit?
« on: 09 April 2009, 03:15:39 »

Only 2 days to my first question, not bad!  ;D

I'm assuming that they will be a different offset but if they are is there anyway to correct this?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

I had a set of FWD Snowflakes on an Omega and due to the wrong offset, it felt awful.

as elite pete says the offset is always a factor to consider, you can use spacers but not sure on the maximum size you can use as i believe there is a law covering this issue but dont know what limit was put on it :-/

Here are some readings about offsets of different GM wheels which I have in my garage:
- standard Omega steel wheels, 15 inch, offset 33
- standard Omega alloy wheels, 16 inch, offset 39
- standard Vectra (MY2004) alloy wheels, 16 inch, offset 41

So, the Vectra ones have only 2 mm difference in offset, should really not do anything to the driving...

You also have to consider the width of the wheels aswell for instance a 7" wheel with the same offset as 6" wheel will give 1/2" less room between tyre and strut and will stick out 1/2" further so may catch arch etc I have some 71/2x17'S with 235/45 tyres and I'm almost certain the offset is et35 and there are no clearance probs.

I had some 18's on a mv6 a few years back with an offset of et40 and had to fit 6mm spacers otherwise they looked too far in the arch.
