HID Headlight plastic lenses
« on: 04 April 2009, 22:30:11 »

Is it possible to buy replacement plastic lenses for mini-facelift headlights,as despite trying to remove the marks on the original lenses they are still very poor....the headlights work fine being xenons but would like them to look clean aswell.
Sure I read that you can cut through the sealant and remove the lense, but can you get new ones ?

Projectors will be better as the dont need any wire mods to fit.

Sorry but I have made contact with Hella in the past and they were not intrested in supplying the lense even though they are removable from the lamp unit.
But cleaning with an abrasive paste will make quite an impact on the lense.
My pre facelift is much clearer after cleaning this way.

Thanks..sure there was a guide on method to restore on here ? unsure if the magic "snake oil treatments" that say they restore lenses, from egay, are any good.

Lenses officially not removable from headlight, thus not available seperately.

This stuff worked for me - http://cpc.farnell.com/_/plasticclean/plastic-polish/dp/SAPLASTICCLEAN?in_merch=Products From This Range&MER=e-bb45-00001003

I've no idea what the lenses are made of but they didn't melt!

Steve....that cleaner you mentioned...does it require the headlights out the car to avoid contact with paintwork ,or is it just a case of being extra carefull.?
