interior cleaning?
« on: 09 April 2009, 14:28:00 »

Ok here is the problem.
My car has a beige interior and clothed seats (not leather)
Can anyone suggest what would be the best thing to use to clean it?
I saw a new product from Vanish that can clean carpets and thought of using this, but if anyone has a better solution will gladly listen to it.

Also I have a little advice.
When I got a car it was unbelievebly dirty, especially the door panels.
Tried a number of stuff to clean them and the results were very poor.
Luckily I got an advice from an aquientace who said to use the glass cleaning liquid like Ajax or something similar.
So if you ever need to wash the door panels try using those.

I always use baby wipes on the plastic trims! works a treat and there not expensive! :)

on the seats i always take them out of the car clean them with washing powder in warm water with a nail brush! then leave them in the sun to dry :)

Alot of work but the results are fantastic and again not expensive :)

Hope this helps :-?

i used carpet shampoo in fairly hot water & a cloth, submerged the cloth in the solution, wrug it out thoroughly & briskly rubbed across the seats, came up lovely :y, any stubbord bits can be got off with a nail brush dipped in the cleaner then wiped with the cloth.

If you just wash the seats in detergent or whatever, then apart from the bit that transfers itself to your cleaning cloth all the dirt just gets washed further into the fabric.  Okay, you can't see it, or can't see it so much, but it's still there and may contribute to a generally 'unclean' smell in the car.  For best results use a vacuum cleaner like a Vax, then you can actually suck the dirt out of the seats altogether and tip it down the toilet.  The seats will look cleaner, and the car will smell fresher afterwards.

Why not put it in for a professional valet, ok it cost in the region of £60 but the results are well worth it, then in the future light soiling could be sponged off at the time.

Just a thought,  :)

hire a prof carpet cleaner, will get the dirt out and leave the seats nearly dry, only downside is getting roped into doing the seats/carpets indoors at the same time

Silicon spray for the plastic panels, shine lasts days, and for any stubborn marks on the cloth, such as oil, blood, chewing gum etc,wd40 works a treat.(not many people know that).

Pufa I would gladly sent it to professional cleaners but here they charge around 100 pounds even sometimes more.
And the problem is that they don't clean it good.
I cannot just wash the seats, they have heaters and are electric so any excess of water isn't good.
I'll try a few other suggestions from you guys and see which one works best.
Thanks for the help.
