Headlight clear lens /cover removal
« on: 09 April 2009, 21:40:48 »

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to remove the clear headlight lens/cover from the main black plastic unit.

There are lugs but don't want to lever too much in case they snap.  Also it seems that the lens is adnered to the main unit

Thanks in advance

I split mine recently so I could arildite the adjusters. warm them in the sun or on a radiator, remove the rubber strip and gently prise apart starting from the bottom, cutting the black goo with a sharp stanley blade. Just work your way round the main beam end and it'll come eventually but take it slowly :y

Thanks Lee.

Got a cheap 1996 unit from a scrappy, but isn't the same as my 1999. All I need is the black main body.

Will give it a go tommorow ;)
