I would just like to say a big thanks to Richierich for helping me to reattach my heater rod(several times ) whilst losing some skin in the process . [size=14]Thanks mate[/size], certainly couldn't have done it with out yer .

  Now the only problem remaining is I've only got heat(hooray)on the passenger side(boo)no matter what buttons i press on the Climate Control or resetting of the unit, so has anyone got any ideas as to why :question.

       Any suggestions gratefully received .

Isn`t there also a rod that controls the driver`s side

There is, same as the offside but trickier to get the top bit back on if that has dropped off.

        The rod we reattached Rob goes across the heater above and behind the radio(pre-facelift) from left to right and can be felt moving left to right and vice-verse when you press the buttons for air to head, and air to head/feet.

  Air is blown to all vents but only hot on the passenger side for some unknown reason which hopefully someone can tell me :-?.

   It's the only rod which was off as far as i know and was working fine before .

       From what we could see Steve there is only one rod which attaches to both sides and works as I've explained in my above answer to RobG .

 I must admit it does seem like an impossible task when you see the room you have to work in and does require the removal of the glove box and some of your skin .

   You also need the help of someone like Richierich who has long thin hands and a lot of patience without whom i would have had no chance of refitting the rod .

There's a lever that controls a big flap in the middle of the heater box & then 2 smaller "dog leg" ones on each side linked to the stepper motors for the climate control. If you've got some sort of heat the one that operates the centre flap is working. If heat is only on one side it will be one of the smaller ones. I posted details on how to fix a while back but can't find it at the moment. I'll put a link up if I can.

    Thanks Steve, was this on an early pre-facelift as i don't know if they are all the same as not having seen a picture of any variations

It was on a facelift but I worked off the diagram for a pre-facelift!

They're almost the same behind the scenes apart from the controls.

If you imagine you're sat on the gearstick and put a hand either side at the bottom of the heater box infront of you, you would be touching the motors and end of the arms. The OS one is visible just between the over foot trim & the console. Hope this helps!

thanks pete, my wrists were red raw last night but ok now, bit sore  but at least we got that rod back on, vauxhall certainly designed that so no tinker could do it themself easy. cant imagine how much they would charge to do the work to put it right but it wouldnt be cheap.
