diff seals
« on: 11 April 2009, 20:57:05 »

Hi guys
How do you change the side diff seals where the driveshafts enter, is it a hard job, oil leaking badly would like to sort out
            Thanks  :)

Jack up and remove wheel
Unbolt drive shaft from hub (allen head bolts)
Separate driveshaft from hub (compress shaft towards diff)
Unbolt and remove ABS sensor from diff (to prevent damage)
Use a large screwdriver or pry bar between inboard joint and diff case to ease drive shaft out of diff.
Lever out old seal, press in new one.
Grease new seal lips then insert drive shaft carefully.
Compress driveshaft towards diff then tap hub end with hide mallet or piece of timber to engage snap ring.
Rest is simply reverse of dismantling etc.

Check oil level, top up with EP90 (normal diff only, not LSD)
