Why no codes?
« on: 12 April 2009, 13:21:23 »

Several of you maybe aware that my car has been stood for a couple of days now as it wont fire.
Several of you have said it is the Crank sensor that has gone
On doing the paperclip test and plugging in 2 x machines (NOT VX) why is it coming up with NO fault codes

It should come up with a 31 if its not running  :-/

12 start/end of sequence...31 engine not running...

failing crank shaft doesnt always give code...I would go with changing it anyway...

a 19 is a failing crank sensor, a 31 is non conclusive, as it means no rpm (as expected when not running), but could also be the crank sensor has completely failed.

Check for fuel at fuel rail first to rule out fueling issues.

If it failed with the engine off then it wouldnt be able to report the code 19 to the ECU as your unable to start the engine...it will be the crank sensor at fault...
