New exhaust needed.
« on: 11 April 2009, 17:13:33 »

Hi guys, so ive been told by my garage that the rattley and blowing noise coming from my exhaust is due to the baffles having rusted away! I am now loking for a good cheap after market exhaust from the cats back on a 2.5 v6. Any ideas or site links would be great.
P.s. i dont want the new exhaust to be too loud or boy-racer but a good loud grumble!

Other members have warned against getting the latest Vx exhausts, but have recommended stainless steel ones as the way to go. ;) ;)

a bit louder than I would've liked, and the twin pipes are a bit Max Power for me.

Agreed about the Vx system. Well overpriced as it is not OE anymore, plus only a 2 yr guarantee. Either the stainless systems others have used or your motor factors will be able to get you as good as the VX system for about £170 for the two centre sctions & tail pipe, with a 3 year guarantee.

Just my 2 pence worth, but i've got a Powerflow stainless steel system on mine and it comes with a lifetime guarantee. It gives off a throaty growl but it's not a boy racer tinny noise. I'm told it has increased the bhp but I can honestly say i've not noticed it. If you can afford stainless then go for it.

The original vx factory fit system used to be available from the parts dept. Sadly not any more. They've replaced the clam shell design with a much cheaper looking system. Its quiet still and it fits. But they have NOT dropped the price accordingly.

Alternatives are as above and it all probably depends how long you think the car will last. If its fairly low mileage, for me, i would rather fit stainless, if the car only has a couple of year life in it or you may not keep it, then a cheaper mild steel job would do. Hth
