Hi all

The primate who changed my wish bones seems to have torqued the front wheels the same as the wish bones.   By using a 4' extension and being very careful I managed to loosen the nuts on one wheel.

However, not so lucky with the locking nut - the lock nut key has three prongs, and one by one each prong snapped.

I will get a new lock nut key next week but how would you suggest that I go about getting this lock nut loose? I thought maybe go to a tyre garage and try with their impact wrench...

Any ideas welcome!

I have heard people saying they have chiseled wheel locking nuts off but I didn't fancy that idea. What I did was to hammer my deep impact socket over the locking wheel nut, then got my breaker bar and it came off no problem and no hammer marks on my wheels

Then didn't fit locking wheel nuts again

The obvious answer is to let the bloke who tightened them do it.  
If you are stuck, all is not lost. I had this problem once when my Nephew bought a car with studs he  had no key for, after struggling for over an hour, I had to give up. I took it to my local tyre fitters, who removed all four within five minutes! They would not let me see what kit they used, but I think it cost me a fiver!

Pretty sure I used a 17mm socket and haven't had one round off yet.. But obviously its up to you, also if you are wanting to use the lock nut again after, I didn't

That makes sense. IIRC the wheel nuts are 17mm too. I've got spare wheel nuts - I don't think people bother to steal Omega wheels do they?

Locking wheel nuts will be bigger than the normal wheel nuts though mate, a 19mm socket may go on but this started to round off when I did mine, so thats why I used a 17mm and hammered it on. Came off without problem just make sure the socket is hammered on fully not just the edge

WOW! Cheers Pete - that's awesome. Never seen these before. I've just had a whisky otherwise I would have dashed out to Halfords. I'll go get this in the morning!

Pop down to your local argos,and buy yourself a wheel nut remover that you plug into your fag lighter,they are brilliant,and i wouldent leave home without one now.I think they are about £40,and are made by rac.These are alot less hassle when removing wheel nuts,because it always fits square on wheel nut,which eliminates rounding off your bolts.
