What is the best way to remove the thermostat from the transfer pipe??

Please someone give me some ideas, I have tried everything I can think of but the bugger won't budge!

No still on the vehicle. Didn't think you could get them off whilst still attached?

leave the transfer pipe fastened, undo the two bolts on the thermostat and wiggle it just a little bit  :D with a pair of mole grips to free it from the transfer pipe first, then undo the barstool bolt :y

Nope .. new one is much thinner and has no built up "boss" at the bolt holes. Original bolts are about 3/8 " too long and bottom out.  Daz had to search his "bits box" for 2 suitable bolts .... :)

Pete phoned his supplier to check part numbers, old one superceded but the bolt info on "the system" has not been changed :(

If anyone needs the info I can take a piccy of the old one with the built up area....

Lol

Metric engine design, metric measurements
Imperial engine deisgn, imperial measurements (like the 1 3/4 inch spanner I was using last weekend!)
Whitworth bolts - break knows!
