Respray Costs??
« on: 02 May 2009, 00:08:31 »

Anybody got a general idea on how much it would cost to respray:

Front bumper
Bonnet
Roof (including filling 2 12mm holes where plod aerials were fitted - currently got grommets in their place...)
Boot (saloon)
Rear bumper

It's Nocturno Blue (Pearl.)

Rest of paintwork is fine and dandy.  Yes, tried safe-cut et al, but not made a difference in getting rid of the small stonechips/scratches.

Looks great when it's first waxed (I use AutoGlym Super Deep Shine), but then after washing it (by hand may I add) for the first time after waxing, the chips/scratches start coming through again.

One of the local paintshops wants 600notes, which seems a bit excessive really...

Cheers  :y

Cheers for that - I'm a half-decent (extremely amateur!) sprayer, but have never sprayed up a metallic panel before, or else I'd be half-inclined to have a dabble myself!!

If you aren't bad at spraying, do the bonnet yourself. if it goes well do the rest. if it doesn't, what have you lost? £30 worth of paint and a weekend's effort??? nothing stopping you taking it to a spray shop after having had a go yourself.

alternatively if you do all the prep work, sanding, filling, primering etc yourself the spray shop will probably quote your chaper on the rest of the job.

Thing is you would have to blow the tops of the wings in aswell,so the panels look an even colour.
