Replacement clutch on a 2.6
« on: 01 May 2009, 21:34:09 »

Hi Guys,

I am just about to flog the Omega and wondered if i should bother fixing the clutch drag beofe i do?  I found a new clutch on fleabay and wondered if a mickey mouse part would be a bad move?  I bought a mickey mouse cat/downpipe for my 2.0 and tis caused me no end of pain!

Heres the one i am thinking of buying - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-2-6-V6-24v-CLUTCH-KIT-NEW-BOXED_W0QQitemZ130287599827QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item130287599827&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

Are they easy to install?

Thanks and regards

Mate,

I would seriously suggest you get some genuine parts for the clutch kit. Personally, I do not trust any parts if the are not original. My personal point of view  ;)

By the way, I suggest you resize your avatar to something like 110 X 110 pix. It block part of the test you typed

Top stuff Mark!  they are local too   :)

Autospares (Sutton) Ltd
Acton Road
Long Eaton
Nottingham
NG10 1FR

IIRC, my old IT company had a contract with these, i remember visiting them a few years back...  just round the corner from where Just Novas used to be  :-[

Cheers
M

Ps: how easy are they to fit?  I've not looked in the haynes as yet but OOF doesnt return much from a search.

Pps; If you ever feel at a loose end one day soon, with an empty tummy and pockets, i could line your palm with silver and feed you...  :y

tmx,

I do recall reading this in a post a few years ago.  They all need to come from somewhere.

I seem to recall a company in Nuneaton makes some parts for Vx too, can't think of the name though.  I also visited them back in 99 when i were a lad fixing pooters on the road.

ahh thanks, that look pretty reasonable.  I am a little worried that my oil seal has gone too.  Is this the reason for clutch drag or could this be the failed HBV from a few years ago?

Cheers

The clutch is a fairly easy job on the Mig's due to the engine being the right way round. Drag it down here if you're unsure and need a hand :y I've got the allthreads to make the job easier too ;)
