Try this for you screen, click on Start/control panel/display then at the top click on Settings then middelish left Screen resolutions move the arrow to 1280 by 800 pixels then at the bottom click on apply, ( sorry if you already know this dont mean to be a clever ar*e ) it might Help a bit.

That will only work for those with a compatible graphics card, and will make "everything" on screen appear smaller.

Surely the simpler way is for folks to ensure their avatars are within the site rules Now last time I pointed out the rules I was accused of being a wannabe admin .... so I've tried a different approach

I use the Free aol desk top and have no problems. you are right it will make everything smaller sorry forgot that not everyone has a modernish pc
