electric windows
« on: 17 May 2009, 13:28:42 »

Hi,have asked for advice before but no replys so thought i would try again!
I have 98 3.0 elite and all electric windows dont work or work very slowly.Sometimes they will work fine and sometimes only when ignition off and pressing drivers courtesy light switch??!!
Is there an ecu for windows? if so where?
I work on rolls + bentleys, they have a 'one shot' ecu on each front window, does the omega have something similiar?
When the window switches light up they work but mostly they dont light up and dont work.
I have checked all connections on doors/motors/switches etc but all fine and no corrosion
HELP!

Does anything else electrical perform inadequately?
Have you checked the battery?

Slow windows can be either a weak battery or struggling motor. For all four to have a struggling motor at the same time is unlikely.

To do: Replace brake discs and pads; adjust already replaced shoes; check for leaks in oil cooler, cambelt area, crank seals, sump, dipstick; replace osf door; replace a tyre; clean, MOT.

Omegas have this on all four windows, the controls for it is built into the motor assembly.

The battery is fine car starts as it should.
If it was one motor playing up it would make sense that it would be slow.
But this is all 4 motors at same time!
No other electrical probs
