Engine Man light on - Car didn't want to start ?
« on: 16 May 2009, 21:17:33 »

Hello.

Has anyone come across this kind of problem before ?.

Yesterday returning home from break away, was on the motorway (180mls) with no problems, pulled off motorway, did about 20miles, decided to stop and have a break. Got back into car, went to start and;

It didn’t, but whole car seamed to shake quite badly whilst trying to.
Tried starting again, no shaking this time, still didn’t catch ?.
Gave a little gas (pressed accelerator slightly), car jumped into life straight away. :-?

Only problem now is that Orange engine light come on, and won’t go off till I actually switch the engine off now ?!.
Car seems to run normal, there’s no lack of power, so I don’t think its in ‘get you home’ mode.
Though not sure if I’m being paranoid or if the car is really running a tad lumpy now ?.  :-/

Did have the Cambelt & pulleys changed by garage couple of days before I went away, as it was due, and wanted to make sure all was okay.
Is it possible that the belt has jumped a tooth some how, so now the timings wrong and a sensor has picked it up as a fault ?.  :o

Would appreciate if anyone could suggest what I should start to look for as a possible cause, as I’m really getting fed up with this car now.
Had so many faults that I’ve had to fix up to now, that the damn cars going to make me broke soon !!.  :-[

Cheers,
M

No not yet.

Is it possible to do the 'paperclip' test on these cars ?.

Any chance you can let me know what the model of the tech reader you used for your car please, as think I'm gon'a have to get me one of them for timing being, as think I've got a dud Omega these days ?!.

Once I get my accident damage fixed (thanks to someone else !) I think I'll get rid of my Omega, may try to get GLS V6 or may go back to classic car at this rate !  :'(
