PaperClip test results - Help Needed!
« on: 17 May 2009, 21:02:59 »

Okay, just did the paperclip test. Below are the results of the test:

31 - which i understand is normal to get when doing the paperclip test with the engine turned off

137 - ECU box temperature high.

Why in the world would the ECU box temperature become high??? Anyone could shed any ideas about this one??  :-/

PS: where would the ECU box happen to be in a facelift 3.0 V6 miggy?

Thanks

Thanks guys. I'll check the ECU box to see if there's anything evident out there. Anyway CEm, to answer your question, the temperature is already reaching up to 37 degrees celcius here in Bahrain. I expect it to reach up to 50 in mid July - August!

Darn! my fans will be working hard! lol  ;D

No, no, Not showing off at all mate. My car will be working harder - fans will be cutting in a LOT as well as the AC working real hard! You should come around and visit me Andy. Am sure you'll be very happy about the temperature here. It's ALWAYS sunny - a big change from the type of weather you're used in the UK. Ah! before i forget - you'll enjoy the sandstorms too.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

there should be a single wire coming out of the box which then bolts onto the wing or similar earth return, check the connection for rust etc

Thanks mate.  :y :y :y Will check it out and come back here if i need any more advice.

My EML has been playing up with me. Coming on and blinking a few times at me and then going off. It came on a second time and stayed on till I turned off the car when i got back home. Performance of the car is not at all affected. Anyway, when i started the car yesterday morning, it did not come on again (except during the normal starting sequence as it should) and today also it did not come back on again. But i did the paperclip test as i was worried it would say it's not happy about something! Hope this does not develop into something serious  :-/
