Dying Autobox
« on: 21 May 2009, 20:50:58 »

Hi, my 2.5 cdx auto has started to change up harshly, not all the time, but most of the time. Also when letting of the power the revs seem to stay up higher than usual when coasting up to traffic light etc revs used to drop off now they stay up about 1-2000 rpm until stopped also when braking hard u feel the gearbox catch up. Is this a sign of low fluid or a dying box, there are no warning lights and the selector illuminates properly. Thanks

I would say, before codemning the 'box, change the fluid and filter. Dont forget to drop the small front sump off as well. Transformed my box even with only 40,000 miles on the clock 2 years ago.

There are no drain plugs. Dexron 3 is the fluid. others on the forum recommend Fuchs Titan from Opie oils. We get a discount.

Filter and seals available from JPAT. Search the site for a link.
