Average price is £45, and that should be for a leak check, regas, dye, and VAT included.

I would get it done professionally, rather than buggering around with the crappy hellfrauds kits (soon to be banned I understand).

For any air con problems in Swindon I have no problems recommending  "Halls Auto Electrical"  out on the Blagrove Estate... tel 01793 870877. They are doing a free check at the moment and a regas for £39.99 inc VAT.

I have used them a few times now, both on this miggy and the old one ...  very pleased with what they do ..  :y :y :y

HTH

and BTW fatmann .. if you ever need an engine code read I can help, and I have a trade card that Skurray's take no problem .. and I'm very close to Swidnod .. :)

as always with ac, use a specialist. Avoid halfords and quick fit up like the plague. They dont have a clue, one in a million might know a bit more than usual but it wont be because they where well trained.

Re climate controle. Use it as such imho. Rather than a heater and an ac unit. Leave it on auto and just select the temp you require, let the unit sort it out as designed and it will give better climate in the car and keep you ac unit ticking over, they dont like long periods of inactivity as you may be finding out, or it may just need a gas top up, may have a leak also.
Obviously there will be times when you need to demist the screen or flat out heat on cold mornings etc. But as a rule, auto, eco off, and just adjust the temp as required. :-)
