URGENT HELP - fuel leak
« on: 03 June 2009, 19:45:27 »

just filled up the tank ready to go on holiday and got home to find a pool of petrol on the drive!! :o

taken the access hatch off and seems to be a lot of petrol around the locking ring, is this a common failure / leak? :'( :-/

see if ring will tighten slightly - they can work loose. But sounds like either the seal has gone (reasonably uncommon) or the fuel pipes have corrodedm and leaking out of plate (should be easy to tell

pipes coming out of top of pump are bone dry - ring is very tight so may take it off to have a better look  :-/

well i started to loosen it off and petrol started pissing out so tightened it back up with a big screwdriver and rubber mallet and leak seems to have stopped. (fingers crossed) :-/

serves me right for trying to get 67 litres in a 65 litre tank :D :-[
