Hi there.. :) ive just got a 2.6 facelift estate (2001)it had a oil leak on left hand cam cover so stripped it down to change it and noticed it has alloy cam covers fitted and not plastic ones does any one know if this standard for the estates.... ;)

No not standard on the Omega at all.
Standard on the Vectra ;)
I expect the oil filler is under the scuttle and a bit of a pig to get to ::)

 ::)yep a pig...take it that they are ok to have on the car if there off the veccy and not the omega..? and the leak isnt caused by the covers not fitting correctly... ;)

The oil leak is probably because your breathers are blocked.
Have a look in the maintenance section how to clean them out ;)

have checked all the links and followed the excellent advice and step by step guides for changing the gaskets 8-)have cleaned the breathers out as shown they were filthy so when ive put it all back together tommorow that should be the end of the leak ;D

on the how to it says about the black sealent i have some blue i was going to use that  :-/do you know the name of the black sealent as i will use that if it is the best... :y

The thing is with Vectra Cam Covers is making sure you keep the breathers clean, so regular oil changes or else if the breathers block Crank Seal will blow not the Cam Cover Gaskets :-?

The most important thing to remember is that Omega gaskets will NOT fit your covers, you need to use vectra ones :y

got the right gasket and the sealent  ;)cleaned all the breather pipes..sealed everything and put back together.... jobs a good un ;D..now the engine management light has gone out....woopwoop 8-)the plank who done it last time lost half the original bolts and left most of the pipes with no clips on ::)thanks for the help guys....
