Thanks Andy, would help if I could type let alone spell.

So, seat belt pretensioner, if it’s been fired (gone off/ triggered/ the yellow warning bit is showing, etc), is it an MOT fail?

Not sure. I know that your airbag light being on is NOT a failure.

yes it is a failure if the flag is showing but if you cut it off flush it isnt!!, strange i know but i had to cut mine off, mind you if you get in an accident the insurance might get funny about it. ;)

Dunno the laws in GB but here it is a straight failure without any exception.

I personally would not mess and risk with the SRS systems, they are there for a good reason. And I would be very concerned why it is triggered, they do not go off themselves. And, in addition to your personal and/or passangers safety, as unlucky alf posted, you would get in deep shite with your insurance company in case of accident.

Don't get me wrong, not trying to be picky or anything else, just stated my point of view.  :y

Thanks for response everyone, thou still not sure about this, phoned a couple of MOT testers, one say's its a fail, another says depends how much of the Warning plastic is sticking out, could be an advisory.

Found this on the Web.

Some seat belts are fitted with pre-tensioners.
Once activated, a 'flag' or similar shows on the seat belt stalk.
In itself a seat belt that has had the pre-tensioner activated is NOT a reason for rejection.
The vehicle presenter should be advised.

would guess it went off when you were unbolting seat or putting a seat in? its very common and makes you wnder what the heck happ >:(end
for future reference when you remove the plastic covers down by the side of the seat you will see the pretensioner, kind of looks like a mini shockabsorber, before unbolting the seat look very carefully at end of it you will find a red plastic tab or key usually held there by a plastic wire, this has to be slotted in to the tensioner to prevent it going off, and similarly when you have finished bolting the seat in pull the ley or tab back out again to arm the pretensioner, or it wont work!!! they can be swapped by the way!!!
