Noisy lifters?
« on: 11 June 2009, 10:13:15 »

I have a tapping noise on the drivers side of the engine it gets louder when I put it in drive. Is this the lifters do you think? I did an oil & filter change yesterday and added some lifter treatment - it's still as noisy though. If I have to get them changed is it a long, complicated, expensive job and will it do any damage if I don't change them? Thanks folks.  :y

This might be a daft question but is the noise there when hot and cold? I only say that because on startup lots of V6s have clicky inlet manifold gaskets until everything expands and closes the gap. Mine does this for about a minute and when I stick it in D it gets a bit louder.

Markey, do you just clean the mesh at the bottom - or do you actually remove the whole pipe? If so, how does it come off?  :y

Awesome - I guess it's well worth checking, for the sake of dropping the sump....  :y
