Hi Everybody and rear shocks info
« on: 13 June 2009, 13:51:51 »

Hi everybody! :D
I was wondering if anybody could help me out with some info?
I have a V6 Elite which i love driving and recently the suspension at the rear has jacked it right up.I took it to the local garage who told me that the self leveling suspension sensor is faulty and it will cost £300 just for the part.Theres no way i cant afford to replace it.i have found a second hand part on ebay but its always a risk buying second hand parts weather it will work or not.I was wondering if it is possible to replace the selfleveling rear shocks with standard shocks(would they fit)??Or perhaps somebody out there had a different solution to my problem?
I would be very grateful for any info relating to my problem
Many thanks

Is it always high, even before you start the engine? I changed my Elite SL dampers for normal ones, but they were worn out, you could try removing the fuse for the SL compresssor, but I'm sure you can get a good second hand sensor that works cheap enough, if you cant get one on here try http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/omegaspareparts/, even if it doesn't work I'm sure he would change it

Check the sensor arm hasn't just "popped off" .. this will give a false low reading so causing the car to go to max height. The arm can be cleaned up and reseated with a bit of light grease quite easily. If it keeps popping out then a tie-wrap can be used to stop that whilst still allowing vertical movement.

This will give temporary respite whilst you geta  replacement from one of the breakers on here .. :)

Hi there thanks for the info.Yes it is permenantly high and i have checked underneath and tried to adjust the sensor and arm with no luck.I have also tried  removing the fuse and relay with no luck.I thnk i will buy some standard shocks for the time being as the shocks look pretty knackered (all the rubber is perished badly)At
Thanks again for the quick and useful replies
