increase revs

hi all i have 2.5cdx auto on a p reg 110,000 miles got in car this morning and notice revs stuck 3000 revs as i pulled up in garage to put fuel in started again then got on motorway then seemed fine any ideas why the throttle would stick at 3000 revs when stationary thanks any ideas would be grateful  :y :y

Are throttle bodies clear? Is the return sping still good and strong?

As the boy said, check the throttle body is clean and the spring is intact. If its still happening maybe look at the idle control valve. Perhaps it is stuck open or the stepper motor has failed. Hope that gives you some success :y

it just stuck on 3000 revs i just turned car off then on again then was okay will check what you suggested  cheers :y
