cam sensor on 2.2 petrol?
« on: 27 May 2009, 00:03:46 »

I had engine management light turned on 10 days ago, the car did loose a little power.
Some suggested it could be the cam sensor on its way out. I had it turned on again only once in the last ten days. It disappeared when turned the car off and on again. Although now car looks like its working fine but somehow it doesnt feel like its up to full power. I will have the codes read next week hopefully. How much does this sensor cost if anyone knows? Is this the same one as crank sensor??
I saw this link on ebay so will anybody confirm is this the one I'm talking about
http://cgi.ebay.com/Vauxhall-Omega-B-1994-2003-2-2-Crank-Sensor_W0QQitemZ330323798450QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item4ce8d529b2&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

If its not does anyone have a part number for this?
Thanks in advance for any help you may give

Auto Addict said the car goes into limp mode cause of this sensor. Can anyone explain (describe) this limp mode a little better

Limp mode restricts the rev's to 2500rpm i think it is

Just enough to get you to the side of the road safely

My last 2.2 did the same thing...light would come on,but if you switched the car off locked it with the key and started again it would go out......

Turned out it was the sensor which is located in with the timing belt (i assume thats crank sensor, can anyone confirm)

its at the front, the black eco tech strip, there is a cable popping out at the front near the cam cover, its that.

You need to pop the aux belt & cam cover off to release the bolt holding the sensor in.

Do you need to change the aux belt after that?
Mine aux belt is new.
Changed 1000 km ago

no, re-using the old one is fine, just make sure it goes back on the same way it came off.
