Head skimming

Right.
Any idea where in Brum I can do it? Is it something that every garage can do, or should I be carefull whit it?

yeah there is a place in great barr/ kingstanding if its still there but not 100% sure of the name of the company

you should have a chat with a chap called trevor at streetly motors in great barr just off shady lane

tell him nick sent you and he will tell you the best place

Its quite a specialist job, so if a garage took it on they would almst certainly pass the work on to a local engineering shop.

And that's the problem.
How do I know if the engineering shop's good or not? I took my car to few of those so called "technicians", and to be honest with you I got fed up with the level of bull**** they've been trying to sell me each time. It's only thanks to the people like you guys I keep the faith...
Otherwise I'd buy myself a bike and a big umbrella :)))
The thing is though, that I really love my Omega...

the chap i told you to get in touch with knows what he is talking about
plus he is a vauxhall speaclist
you wont have any problems
the company has been going for years with no complaints :y

Dont really know the engine code for the 2.2 in the mig,but if its a z22se,your not really supposed to skim these heads according to the haynes book for some reason or the other. :y

Lee... do you remember what was the engine code? Car's original book says, that this is Z22XE.
The other 2.2 option would be DTH, which I trust is a Diesel engine.

And can anyone actually say something more about why the head shouldn't be skimmed?

Will try him out only if new MAF and Filter wouldn't help matters. THX Again for pointing me to the riight direction.
