4 for 3 trade club deal
« on: 27 November 2007, 18:16:25 »

Is this likely to be continued indefinitely, or is it worth stocking up before the year end?

It has been running a few years now, but obviously who knows if they'll extend it again...

Even if it doesn't, the 20l tubs of semi-synth are almost as good value as 4 for 3 on the 5l, if a little unwieldy. Could buy 4 for 3 of the 20s, of course. Should keep you in oil for a while...

I Think Part no 93165216 for 4x5 ltr's of oil, cost:

£26.07 + VAT £4.68 = £30.75.

Make sure you get 4x5 ltr bottles, un-like someone, who end up with 20 ltr's all in 1 can/bx.  ::)

Unless changed recently, it's either 10W-40 semi or 5W-30 full. They use to have 5W-40 full but no longer...

Cheers guys. Great price! The 10W40 will do nicely... I was getting mixed up with the BMW which takes 5W40 fully synth.

Is the 10W40 OK for the DTI diseasel engine? Or can you mix and match the 4 for 3 offer with different types of oil? And no, I haven't turned to the dark side ;)

Can't mix and match the deal.

You'll need to double check the DTI requirements, but I would suspect semi will be OK, though obviously change it regularly as its a diesel.

Vectra Elite Estate doing good post-Omega service but still not as nice to sit in.

One last Omega on the drive, one Corsa on the lawn...maybe they'll go to a good home before too long!

Cheers, I'll just pick up some 10W40 then. I imagine the normal stuff is OK in diesels with regular changes (i.e. not the manufacturer stated ones!), special "diesel" oils are probably little more than marketing with a tiny improvement in dealing with particulate contamination.
